A Theatre Review

Toy Town Theatre
A bouncer explodes through a door dragging an imaginary assailant in a headlock. The bouncer throws the man to the floor and kicks him until he stops breathing before launching into an extremely boring monologue that elongates time way beyond the advertised 80 minutes. The monologue centres around how hard or ‘Ard’ he is, how he ‘int never not been Ard.’ Not for a moment. And how he can’t ever stop. Because life itself is Ard, especially when you’re a bouncer at the roughest nightclub in the toughest town in the Ardest time since time began. Some two hours later I awake to find the bouncer pretending to in a prison cell and wonder what I’ve missed. ‘Violence is futile. Violence rebounds’ he says in what’s intended to be a sobering finale. ‘I knew that before I left primary school’ I whisper to the bloke next to me. “Shut the fuck up” he glowers. “I’m having a wank!” Timothy Showcase
